Binghamton Mayor Returns to City Hall After COVID-19 Isolation

Mayor Richard David says he's been cleared to go back to work in his office at Binghamton City Hall.

David announced on October 8 that he had tested positive for COVID-19. In a tweet Monday morning, the mayor wrote that he was "feeling great."

David thanked those who sent messages of support and provided assistance to him over the last several days. He wrote: "I was overwhelmed by the positive and caring support — it meant a great deal to me."

The mayor also thanked Auburn Community Hospital for the care he received during an overnight stay.

David also wrote: "This virus doesn't discriminate. We must all continue to do our part. Wear a mask, practice social distancing, listen to experts, follow the rules."

The mayor could not be reached Monday afternoon for additional comment.

David had attended a Syracuse news conference with several other mayors shortly before he tested positive for COVID-19. Those mayor isolated themselves as a precaution after they learned of David's test result.
