Broome County police agencies were looking for a man who robbed a Binghamton bank.

The heist at M&T Bank at 149 Robinson Street reportedly happened shortly after noon Thursday.

Several marked police patrol vehicles were sent to the East Side neighborhood to search for the suspect.

Detectives arrived a short time later to look for evidence inside and outside the bank, which is located at the corner of Robinson and Ely streets.

Police questioned people outside the nearby CVS Pharmacy and a KFC restaurant just east of the bank.

A state police patrol stopped a man who apparently matched the description of the robber. He was interviewed by city investigators near the Adult Outlet at Court Street and Berwick Avenue, several blocks from the crime scene.

There apparently were no injuries in the robbery. It was not immediately known if the suspect displayed a weapon.

Detectives at the bank did not comment on the incident.
