While some Southern Tier businesses have closed since the start of the pandemic, some are surviving despite health and economic issues posed by Covid-19.

Devon Beaman, the operator of the Dollhouse NYC salon, has moved the business from Endicott to Binghamton.

The shop held a grand opening celebration at its new location at 31 Court Street last week. Construction workers were busy putting the finishing touches on the salon just before guests arrived to visit the place.

Beaman said she came to Broome County from Long Island. She said she's excited about the prospect of operating the small business in downtown Binghamton.

Beaman said operating her own business is hard work but she likes it because "I control everything."

The salon follows Covid-19 safety protocols that have become standard operating procedure for businesses since the start of the pandemic nearly a year ago.
