New Yorkers Pick the Sportiest Parks in the State
A new survey of over three thousand New Yorkers looked at which public parks are the best for weekend sports. These are the parks where people meet up for everything from baseball and soccer to pick-up games and long runs. Three parks came out on top.
Central Park in Manhattan Takes First
Central Park landed in the number one spot. It has just about everything: baseball diamonds, soccer fields, cricket areas, basketball courts, and miles of running paths. Weekends start with youth games in the morning, pick-up matches in the afternoon, and casual play going into the evening. There is always something happening.
Delaware Park in Buffalo Comes in Second
Delaware Park took the number two spot. It’s known for its baseball and softball fields, soccer areas, basketball courts, and trails. Saturdays usually start with kids’ games, then shift to adults playing soccer or frisbee.
Prospect Park in Brooklyn Takes Third
Prospect Park rounded out the top three. It has large fields, baseball diamonds, tennis and basketball courts, and plenty of places to run or walk. On a typical weekend, you will see youth games in the morning, adults doing pick-up sports later in the day, and families enjoying the trails and playgrounds.

New York’s Top Three Sporty Parks
In the end, the survey showed that Central Park, Delaware Park, and Prospect Park are the most active, sport-friendly parks in New York. Here are some other fantastic parks to visit in the Empire State including Otsiningo Park.
