Barry to Come Calling in Twin Tiers

Much of the Twin Tiers, Central, Western and Northern New York are bracing for some unsettled weather later this week, some of it courtesy of Tropical Depression Barry.

In a Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service in Binghamton, thunderstorms during the middle of the week will be capable of producing torrential downpours and locally heavy rainfall.

Forecasters say the threat for isolated flooding looks greatest in the afternoon and night July 17 when tropical moisture from the remnants of Barry pass through the area.

Rain isn’t the only concern as forecasters warn heat and humidity will build through the end of the week. Friday, July 19 is forecast to be the hottest day of the period with maximum heat indices near 100 degrees.
