State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker says all appointments for Johnson & Johnson vaccines on Tuesday, April 13 at state-run mass vaccination sites would be honored with the Pfizer vaccine.

Broome County Public Health Director Rebecca Kaufman said all Johnson and Johnson clinics set up by the county had been canceled but residents should still take advantage of clinics giving the Pfizer first dose instead.

Binghamton University and other SUNY schools were to start vaccinating students with the single-dose shot under a directive announced by Governor Andrew Cuomo this week in an effort to get all SUNY students inoculated before they head home at the end of the semester.

April 13, word from the Vestal campus indicated they will be waiting for an update on the J&J vaccine situation but, until then, transportation would be provided to the state vaccination site in Johnson City to receive the two-dose Pfizer shot.

The semester concludes in about a month, so time is running out to schedule the full round of vaccination since the second shot is administered three weeks after the first dose.
