New York Golf Course Ranks Among Toughest in America

The PGA tour is winding down it's season with the BMW championship this weekend and the TOUR Championship next weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. Their season may almost be over but for us amateurs, there is still plenty of golf to play.

There are many golf courses within driving distance in the Southern Tier, so you'll be able to find a course that fits you best. But where are the most challenging golf courses in all of America at?

Galvin Green set out to find out the answer and here are the top ten toughest golf courses, based on TripAdvisor reviews. The study looked at keywords that related to the difficulty of each course, including 'advanced' and 'elevation change'.

Toughest Golf Courses in America

TPC Tampa Bay in Florida takes the top spot, with each review containing an average of 1.2 difficulty-related keywords. Bethpage Black, New York, and Wine Valley Golf Course, Washington, come in second and third, with an average of 1.112 and 1.088 keywords per review.

Bethpage Black is famous for its difficulty and has hosted several major tournaments, including the U.S. Open. It is no surprise that it ranks second on the list. On the other hand, Four Seasons Resort and Club at Colinas, Texas, is the easiest course, with an average of just 0.022 keywords per review. Hey, maybe I could break par at that course

It is fascinating to see a mix of courses from different states on the list, with the diverse challenges across the country. But I say that you can save some time and gas and find a local course that will give you the challenge you want.
