Akshar says he commends the downstate Democrat for traveling the state to focus on what he called “the abysmal business climate in New York.” But the Binghamton Republican says the Southern Tier is again being ignored.

The closest meeting to Binghamton that Kaplan had scheduled was September 25 in Syracuse at the Central NY Region Entrepreneurship Assistance Center.

The Central Region service area is identified by Empire State Development as Onondaga, Oswego, Syracuse, Madison and Cortland Counties.

A meeting September 24 was to have been held in the Finger Lakes Region, which is  primarily focused on Monroe County but also includes Wayne, Ontario, Erie and Genesee Counties.

Akshar points out Kaplan, who chairs the Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business, scheduled two stops on Long Island.

According to Kaplan’s office, other roundtables scheduled were in Western New York, the North Country, Capital Region, New York City, Westchester, Suffolk and Nassau counties.

Akshar is offering to organize a visit by Kaplan to the Southern Tier.
