What does Traci's Hope mean to you?  First who is Traci? Her name was Traci Gibson and we lost her too soon 12 years ago. She lost her battle to breast cancer on October 3rd, 2006.

She wanted to give "Hope" to others that were going through what she was going through and her vision is  still going strong today.

I remember back in 2006, I thought she had recovered and was in remission. When I spoke to her, I would have never known she was still fighting that awful battle and it was her sister that told me how sick she really was.

So what is Traci's Hope? It's a not-for-profit fund set up to help men and women who are going through breast cancer in our area. They pay for many different services that insurance companies don't pay for.

It could be a gas card, day care, house cleaning or mortgage payments. While fighting this disease, the needs can be endless and nobody should have to do it alone.

Traci's Hope is here to make sure everyone gets the support she was blessed to have before she left us. The 15th annual fundraiser is this Saturday, October 6th from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Apalachin Fairgrounds.

It's also the 12th annual Motorcycle Ride to Traci's Hope BBQ. It begins at the Ransom Steele Tavern in Apalachin, register from 10:30 a.m. to noon and Kickstands Up at 12:30 p.m. You can find out more about the motorcycle ride here or call (607) 258-0165.

I can't stress this enough......all the money raised for this event and all the other Traci's Hope events stay local. All proceeds benefit Broome, Tioga, Bradford and Susquehanna Counties

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this is a way to help others. Go here to find out more about the BBQ and to find out about other Traci's Hope events go here.
