Trace Adkins was on a ship and unfortunately fell off the wagon of sobriety. We know that he got into a fight with a Trace Adkins impersonator aboard the cruise ship. How big of a fight was it?  A fellow country star may have the answer.

Love and Theft‘s Stephen Barker Liles was just a few feet away from the incident.  He has an eyewitness account of what happened on the boat. He said a confrontation did occur but no punches were thrown by Adkins or the impersonator.

Liles said “There’s only so much you can take when someone’s trying to be you and now you’re going to come on this small cruise ship …It kind of gets you after some point, It’s cool for a little while... ”

Along with being in close confines with the impersonator, Liles believes that Adkins breaking point was when the character began signing autographs with a “mock Trace Adkins autograph,” which looks a lot like his.

After twelve years sober, Adkins had reportedly been drinking when he confronted the impersonator. Liles claims that Trace “just confronted him” and “got up in his face.”

Adkins was a headliner on Country Cruising. When the ship docked in Jamaica following the altercation, the star fled to check into a rehabilitation facility. It’s not clear where he is or how long he’ll be staying — his next scheduled show is in Harrisburg, Pa. on Feb. 8.
