Some have been wondering and now we know.  The singer of the National Anthem for Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, February 2nd will be Opera singer and Grammy award winner, Renee Fleming.

Some may recognize her voice on the soundtrack to "The Lord of the Ring: The Return of the King." She also sang the theme song to the animated disaster.....I mean movie "Rise of the Guardians."

She'll be one of the more competently trained singers to try the National Anthem. It's never easy but it's more difficult when it's before the Big Game.  The best you can hope for is to be pleasantly forgettable. We remember Christina Aguilera for the wrong reason and we remember Whitney Houston for the right way.

It'll be quite the mix of singers this year. Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will do the halftime show. I also hear that U2 will be a part of the broadcast. Also Prince is appearing on "New Girl" that's airing after the game.

That's all fine and dandy but there is a bigger question. How long will she take to sing it. As some know, the bookies have a "prop bet" on how long it'll take to perform. Last year the over/under for Alicia Keys was 2 minutes and 10 seconds.
