Weekend Box Office Report: ‘Tomorrowland’ and ‘Poltergeist’ Struggle Against the Mighty ‘Pitch Perfect 2’

Tomorrowland may have taken the top spot at the box office in its debut weekend, but things still look awfully grim for the George Clooney sci-fi vehicle. Not only did the film open far below expectations, it faced serious competition in Pitch Perfect 2, which continued to kick aca-butt in its second weekend. And it wasn’t the only new release to under-perform, with the Poltergeist remake also falling short of early predictions. If you were a new release this weekend, things were awfully rough.

Military Appreciation Night Featuring Fireworks Tonight With the Binghamton Mets

The Binghamton Mets score 3 runs in the last 2 innings including 2 in the 9th. Gilbert Gomez scored the winning run on a wild pitch, as the Binghamton Mets walk off with a 5-4 against Akron. Gomez also hit his 1st home run of the year.

The B-Mets look to make it 3 in a row at home this evening on Military Appreciation with Fireworks Night.

Memorial Day Weekend Holiday Traffic

Police across New York and Pa. are stepping up their patrols and checkpoints this holiday weekend.  Governor Cuomo directed New York State officials to suspend most highway and bridge work for the long weekend to prevent traffic congestion where possible.  The Governor also announced that State Police will add numerous sobriety checkpoints on roadways throughout New York.

Hall of Fame Classic Celebrates Baseball In Cooperstown

Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum are celebrating Memorial Day Weekend with their Hall of Fame Classic Weekend.  Featured is the Seventh Annual Hall of Fame Classic which is set for Saturday at 2:05 PM at Doubleday Field.

The Classic features Hall of Fame members like Rollie Fingers, Phil Niekro, Tom Glavine, Tony Perez, Ozzie Smith and Robin Yount who will act as managers and coaches while retired players representing all 30 Major League teams will participate in the game.
