Katy Perry and Dolly Parton, Bestest of BFFs, Perform at Academy of Country Music Awards
No, Katy Perry isn’t at the iHeartRadio Music Awards tonight, thanks for asking. Why? Because she’s too busy having a hootin’, hollerin’ good time with her bestest new BFF, the legendary Dolly Parton, at the ACMs this evening.
After Dolly accepted the Tex Ritter Award for her TV movie Coat of Many Colors (a foreshadowing of the duo’s ensembles), the two tag-teamed on stage in an explosion of bright, eye-popping fabrics and bright lights — just as the two larger-than-life characters surely happily agreed upon backstage. Somehow, this is slightly less campy than we anticipated…but no less of a gem.
Watch their duet of Dolly’s hits, including “Jolene,” “9 to 5″ and “Coat of Many Colors” up top — and more importantly, look at these two interacting in the audience. We’re obsessed with this friendship. Time for a duets album. C’mon, girls!
