Don Harron, who entertained TV audiences with his comic alter ego, Charlie Farquharson on 'Hee Haw', has died. He was 90.

Harron's oldest daughter, Martha said her dad died Saturday morning surrounded by family at his home in Toronto. He choose not to seek treatment for cancer.

Harron introduced his Farquharson character on a CBC TV revue in 1952. He portrayed a country bumpkin from rural Ontario. He went on to perform as Farquharson on 'Hee Haw' from 1969-82.

Farquharson would satirize current events by talking about them from the point of view of a slightly misinformed country bumpkin.

Harron also appeared on other shows, including “Mission Impossible,” “The F.B.I.,” “12 O’Clock High,” “Dr. Kildare.”The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The "Outer Limits." He also helped to bring the classic Canadian novel "Anne of Green Gables" to the stage.
