The Benefits of Social Connections

Caregivers are invited to attend an educational presentation on Wednesday, July 12 from 1:30 – 2:30 PM at the Broome County Public Library. “The Benefits of Social Connections” will be presented by Joan Sprague from the Office for Aging.

Helping someone stay active and engaged can be challenging. Health problems, mobility issues and cognitive changes can all be factors that cause people to withdraw from friends, family and activities that they once enjoyed. It takes effort to stay connected, but it’s worth it - studies show that people with strong ties to others are the healthiest. This presentation will include research studies that show how social supports can affect a person’s health, as well as tips to help keep people socially connected.

Pre-registration is suggested; call Caregiver Services at 778-2411 to register.
