Great national acts, falling gas prices and nice weather help to break the all-time attendance mark at Chevy Court at the New York State Fair.

Over 220,000 people attended Chevy Court during the just concluded Fair.

The old mark of 175,600 was set last year.  That mark fell on Thursday, just 8 days into the Fair, when Jason Derulo played to 24,800 people. In fact, 7 out of 10 of the 8 o'clock shows outdrew the shows at the Grandstand.

This year, the 2 o'clock on Tuesday the 1st with the Oak Ridge Boys drew 9,200 people. That outdrew more than half of last years 8 o'clock lineup.

Beating the likes of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Night Ranger and Barenaked Ladies. That is no surprise to me.

This is the final year for the current incarnation of Chevy Court. The current stage and backstage area will be torn down and rebuilt in time for the 2016 Fair.

The rebuilt stage will allow for even larger shows with more elaborate stage and lighting setups to take place.

It was a great record-breaking year and next year promises to be even bigger and better...better than the Oak Ridge Boys. Well, I'll have to see it to believe it.
