The Broome County Health Department recently conducted the annual Broome County tap water taste test at the Broome County Fair.

6 municipal water systems participated in the event for best tasting tap water in the county.

It was the Town of Chenango, Town of Conklin, Village of Endicott, Village of Johnson City, Town of Kirkwood and the Village of Whitney Point.

It's an unscientific and "fun" contest to raise the public's awareness of municipal tap water. Over 50 people cast ballots in a blind taste test for their favorite and 2nd favorite tasting water.

2 points for best tasting and 1 point for second best tasting vote. The winner was the Town of Kirkwood.

They'll move on to the Central Regional taste test to be held at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse this Friday. They will compete against other neighboring counties best tasting water winners.

The winner on Friday will move on to the state finals at the New York State Fair. Good luck Kirkwood!
