2020 is here, so what now? If you like ice hockey then we have the answer for you. It's the 5th annual Binghamton Pond Festival. Hockey was meant to be played outdoors and it really helps when it's for a good cause.

It benefits the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier (MHAST) Do It For Daron (DIFD) Power to the Purple youth mental health initiative. Binghamton Pond Fest was created to bring a fun family event to our community to enjoy during the wintertime.

All of the donations are kept locally and used by the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier to promote the work of DIFD and their initiative for youth mental health awareness and suicide prevention in our community.

DIFD helps offer various scholarship programs for student outreach programs and for area sports coaches to become certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid.

It's this Saturday and Sunday, January 11th and 12th at Chenango Valley State Park, 153, State Park Road in Chenango Forks. They'll enjoy many activities for a fun and memorable hockey weekend for kids and their families.

This weekend is Youth 8u - 16th outdoor hockey and is not a youth tournament. Go here to get more information and to see the schedule for the entire weekend.

Temperatures will be warm for this time of year with a high around 55on Saturday and Sunday. The good news is that they have a refrigeration system that they use on the ice to keep it frozen so if it doesn't rain too hard, then it'll be fine.

If you would like to help out MHAST but you're not a skater, we have good news. They are in need of volunteers, go here to find the times that fit best for you, your group or your family.

Everyone is welcome to attend, so bring a camp chair, your four-legged friend on a leash along with your friends and enjoy the fun.
