Your place for fantasy sports betting is now just a fantasy in New York....for now.  DraftKings and FanDuel, the nation's top two daily fantasy sports websites have agreed to stop operating through the end of baseball season.

Last year, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman sued the companies. He said the sites were illegal sports betting operations and violating state laws. The companies contended that their contests are games of skill and not chance.

A lower court judge agreed with the Attorney General and that they had to stop. The companies appealed and a higher court allowed them to continue to do business during the appeals process.

As part of the deal, Schneiderman will wait until an appeals hearing is held in September to pursue underlying litigation. If the appeal is successful, he would force them to pay restitution to participants who lost money playing their games.

Lawmakers in New York are considering legislation that would let DraftKings and FanDuel operate without ambiguity.

So for now, all bets are off in New York State.
