More than $600,000 in donations were raised in addition to $200,000 in a New York State grant and addition funding and donations from several groups and companies.  The science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM-themed play space is expected to be completed this summer.

The play area is being located on the Observatory grounds in a field next to the main building. Plans call for swings, a pond and several stations teaching many aspects of the STEM curriculum through play.

The observatory and science center is located at 698 Underwood Road in Vestal.

Upcoming programs and summer camps are listed on the Kopernik website at www.kopernik.org.
