I loved going to Ponderosa on Upper Front Street and really miss it. It was a special place where my daughter and I would go for a treat. We would enjoy the meal and she would play the crane game before we left.

It is now a Hoffman Car Wash but I miss that restaurant and the memories that it gave me. I know that the company that owned Ponderosa isn’t in business anymore but I still think that it would be great if they brought it back to the Southern Tier.

Here are 5 reasons why I miss Ponderosa and why it should come back to Binghamton.

Self Serve Sundae Bar

The self serve sundae bar was great because even when I thought that I couldn't eat another bite, there it was staring at me begging me to make a sundae. My favorite was vanilla ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream. YUMMY!

A Great Way To Try New Things

Ponderosa was great because I could try different foods without having to commit to eating all of it. I could just take a little bit and eat it. If I liked it, then I would go and get more. This way I wasn't wasting any food but could try new things.

Breakfast Was Inexpensive

The breakfast buffet was so cheap that you could eat all of your meals for the day in one sitting and still have money left over. If you left hungry, then that is a you-problem.

Nothing Compared To The Taco Bar

Remember the taco bar with all of meat and liquid cheese and toppings? There was nobody there to tell you that you couldn’t put two cups of liquid cheese and three big spoonfuls of meat on your tortilla chips. Just make sure that you eat it all.

You Got To Meet A Lot of People

If you ever went to Ponderosa after church on a Sunday then you know that you had to stand in line for a very long time. It was a great way to meet people in line with you and say hello to someone that you haven’t seen in a while.

Okay, if we can't get a Ponderosa back in Binghamton, I would settle for a Golden Corral.
