Maybe you’ve heard of Huntington’s Disease, but do you really know what it is? Huntington’s is a fatal genetic disorder that causes cells in the brain to progressively deteriorate. The disease robs people of their physical and mental abilities while they’re in the prime of their life and sadly, there is no cure for this disease. Huntington’s disease has been described as having ALS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer's all at the same time.

The Huntington’s Disease Society reports that there are approximately 30,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease. According to Matthew Santamaria, Communications Coordinator for the Huntington's Disease Society of America, in New York the number of people with Huntington’s Disease is over 15,000.

While a cure for Huntington’s Disease does not exist, the Huntington’s Disease Society of America is on a mission to find one and until a cure is found, they’re working hard to improve the lives of those living with and affected by the disease.
