Voting Machines Trucked to 98 Broome County Polling Places

After months of planning, workers descended on a Binghamton storage warehouse and loaded rental trucks with electronic voting machines to prepare for Election Day.

Democratic election commissioner Daniel Reynolds said each machine was programmed with the information needed for a specific election district.

On Monday, the machines were transported to 98 polling places across Broome County so they would be ready when voting is to get underway early Tuesday morning.

Reynolds said nearly 22,000 people took advantage of early voting opportunities in the county over a nine-day period. He said there was "more activity than we could have possibly counted on."

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Reynolds said about 123,000 Broome County residents are registered to vote in this year's election.

Polls across New York state will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
