98.1 The Hawk Visions Country Hitmaker Contest Rules Official Rules

No purchase is necessary. Void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local regulations apply. Hawk Visions Country Hitmaker (Contest) is open only to legal U.S. residents age sixteen (16) years or older at the time of entry with a valid Social Security number and who reside in the Townsquare Media Binghamton radio station’s Designated Market Area (“DMA”). Void where prohibited by law.  Employees of Townsquare Media Binghamton, affiliates, related entities and subsidiaries, promotional sponsors, prize providers, advertising agencies, other radio stations serving the Townsquare Media Binghamton radio station’s listener DMA, and the immediate family members and household members of all such employees are not eligible to participate. The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents and step-parents, siblings and step-siblings, and children and stepchildren. The term “household members” refers to people who share the same residence at least three (3) months out of the year.

Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions, which are final and binding in all matters related to the Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements set forth herein.

Contest Period

  1. The Contest will begin on April 11, 2016 at 12:00am and will end on June 15, 2016 at 11:59pm. Station’s computer is the official time-keeping device for all Contests.

How to Enter

  1. To participate in the Contest, Contestants will need to upload a head shot of them self (professional or otherwise so long as they have legal permission to use) and a 30-second solo or duo acapella performance (song of their choice) via mp3 audio www.981thehawk.com. Those wishing to enter Contest must submit their photo and audio via www.981thehawk.com by 12:00pm on Friday, April 22, 2016. Station may not be responsible for lost, late, incomplete, invalid, unintelligible, inappropriate or misdirected entries, all of which will be disqualified. All entries become the sole and exclusive property of Station and will not be returned. Station reserves the right to contact entrants and all other individuals whose email address is submitted as part of the Contest.
  2. From all online entries received, station management will randomly select ten (10) entries who will then be notified and invited to compete, through a series of audition rounds. Station listeners will be asked to vote on the ten (10) randomly-selected contestants starting Monday, April 25, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. EST until Friday, May 6, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. The top five (5) contestants will be selected based on total number of votes and will advance to the next round.
  3. Contestants must be available to visit the Station during the week of May 9, 2016 to May 13, 2016. During their visit to the Station, Contestants will be recorded singing and will be required to give a video interview, both of which will be featured on the Station website.
  4. The videos of the selected Contestants will be placed on the Station website where the Station listening audience will be asked to vote on performances. The voting period will begin on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. EST and conclude on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. EST. The number of Contestants will be narrowed down based on votes until only three Contestants are left. The final three will perform during the evening of Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Tioga Downs Casino in Nichols, NY.
  5. A panel of third party judges will score each of the performances of the final three Contestants at Tioga Downs Casino on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Following the final performance that evening, scores will be tallied and a winner will be announced. Winner must execute required Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability Prize Acceptance Form or prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner may be chosen by next qualified Contestant as voted by the panel of judges. Winner is responsible for all taxes associated with prize receipt and/or use.

Prizes

  1. One winner will be chosen to sing at the Toyota Country Lights Festival 2016 on Friday, July 22, 2016 (time TBD) at NYSEG Stadium, in Downtown Binghamton.
  2. Additional prizes, to be determined by Townsquare Media Binghamton, may be awarded to the top three Contestants. All prizes or prize certificates must be received by winner(s) following the conclusion of the Contest finals at Tioga Downs Casino on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. Should one of the final top three Contestants leave Tioga Downs before the conclusion of the Contest, they forfeit their prize, if any. There will be no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes, except that Station may, at its sole discretion, substitute prizes of comparable value or cash. The prizes do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses. Other restrictions may apply.
  3. Only one winner per household is permitted in any Station Contest. Contestants are required to provide truthful information and the Station will reject and delete any entry that it discovers to be false or fraudulent. The Station will disqualify any entry from an individual who does not meet the eligibility requirements, and the Station will also delete any entry received from persons under the age of thirteen (13) in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.

Winner Selection

  1. Decisions of the Station management and judges with respect to the Contest are final.

Conditions

  1. Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners. Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent.
  2. By participating in the Contest, individuals agree to allow their name, voice, or likeness to be used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this Contest without financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.
  3. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, the Station in its sole discretion may require Contest winners (and their travel companions, if any) to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold the Station, its corporate licensee, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the Contest.
  4. Station reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the Contest, including the substitution of a prize or equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement. If due to circumstances beyond the control of the Station, any competition or prize-related event is delayed, rescheduled, postponed or canceled, the Station reserves the right, but not the obligation, to cancel or modify the Contest and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.

Failure to comply with the Contest rules may result in a Contestant’s disqualification solely at the discretion of the Station. Additional Station contest rules may be found here.
