Village Facilities, Broome Clerk’s Office Close, DMV Open But Encourage Distance

Municipal offices around the region and the Broome County Clerk's office are shutting their doors, informing residents that they will be able to conduct business by phone, mail or online in an attempt to continue to distance the population to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.

Johnson City Village hall is closed to the public but is being staffed in order to take phone calls and emails.

Johnson City Police/Fire Response will still be in operation, but special precautions will be taken when dealing with suspected coronavirus contact situations. The fire department will be closed to the public until further notice.

Until April 10, 2020 all public meetings at Village Hall will be limited to body members, essential Village Hall staff, and those with specific business with the government agencies.

Mayor Deemie is asking the residents of the Village to follow all recommendations necessary to reduce any potential spread of coronavirus.. Village of Endicott customer service center remains open at this time, but residents and customers are strongly encouraged to conduct business via online by phone or by the dropbox located at the Endicott municipal building. Village administration will be available by phone or email.

Payments for Endicott Village services will be processed as normal, and residents can pay by phone or deposit cash or checks via the dropbox at the Village offices, which will be monitored throughout the day.

The Endicott Village Court, the George F. Johnson Memorial Library, and the Endicott Visitors Center, museum and events center are all closed until further notice. Refunds or postponements will be arranged via phone at (607) 757-5355 for those planning upcoming events at the events center.

The Village of Endicott public meetings will be postponed until further notice.

The Village of is increasing its cleaning and disinfection practices on the premises of the facilities and offices for all departments to ensure the safety and health of Village employees.

Residents anywhere are encouraged to call ahead if they aren’t sure if their local government offices are open and to check municipal websites.

The Broome County Clerk’s Office closed during the morning March 17.

Clerk Joseph Mihalko issued a statement saying: "Law firms and title search companies are welcome to drop off files and folders at a box that will be outside the Clerk’s Office glass door. All users are strongly recommended to use the e-filing, e-recording and online search capabilities that our office has. For paper filings and paper searches that are not time sensitive, please wait until the State of Emergency has been lifted in Broome County." "www.gobcclerk.com will remain available for searching and purchasing documents. E-filings of civil actions can be done through the NYSCEF e-filing system. Land documents and other recordings can be submitted through one of 4 platforms: Simplifile, CSC, ePartners Network and Indecomm.

The Binghamton and Endicott DMV offices remain open. However, following federal directives on social distancing, only 10 customers will be allowed in the office at any one time.
