I'm sure most of us know by now but Thursday, November 11th is Veterans Day. It's a day to honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces. We should honor them every day but especially on Thursday.

I always thank a veteran but I wish there was something more that I could do. If you feel the same way, then here is something that you can do that can help them, even past Veteran's Day.

The Vestal Elks Lodge, 2071 Vestal Parkway is having an "Honor and Remember" veterans donation drive event on Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. They are collecting donations for the Oxford Veterans Home and nearby nursing facilities.

They are asking for your help and these are some of the items that they are looking for:

Twin-sized Comforters, sweatpants for men and women, white socks for men and women, men's white t-shirts, men's Norelco Electric Razors, ladies facial hair Razors.

Postage stamps, nail polish, nail polish remover, large print word search and puzzle books. Woodcrafts that can be painted, easy craft kits, sensory toys like stress balls, Rubic Cubes, and fidget spinners.

Puzzles that are less than 300 pieces, animatronic dogs and cats,  Dollar Tree gift cards, and monetary donations. All items must be new.

If you don't want to get out of your vehicle, they will have drive-thru tents in the Vestal Elks Lodge parking lot. One of their staff will be more than happy to come to your car and receive your donation.

The Vestal Elks Lodge is inviting you to stop by and meet their Veterans Committee and see their "Veterans Wall of Honor." If you need more info, contact Mindi at (607) 259-3814.

Here is a fantastic way to honor and remember our veterans this Veterans Day that will help them beyond this Thursday.
