New York State Police say 69-year-old Susan Haney was along the road at 8:12 a.m. when 34-year-old Nicole Wilber of Unadilla apparently became distracted and her Jeep Patriot drifted off the road, hitting Haney, throwing her several feet.

Troopers say Haney suffered head trauma, internal bleeding and leg injuries. She was last listed in critical but stable condition after being flown to Upstate University Medical Center in Syracuse where she underwent surgery.

Authorities say Wilber immediately stopped and called 911.

She has been ticketed for reckless driving, moving from a lane unsafely and failure to use due care for a pedestrian.

State Police say the investigation is continuing.
