Some songs are so good, they deserve a remake or two. Here's a list of our favorite country songs covered by other artists:

1. Toots and the Maytals, "Take Me Home, Country Roads"

Originally sung by John Denver, this reggae version is an instant classic, just like the original.

2. The White Stripes, "Jolene"

Jack White has a long-standing relationship with country music (he produced and performed on Loretta Lynn's album 'Van Lear Rose'). The White Stripes tribute to one of Dolly's biggest hits, hits the mark just right.

3. Whitney Houston, "I Will Always Love You"

According to ABC News, Dolly said about the song, "When Whitney did 'I Will Always Love You,' I mean look what a grand song she made out of that simple, heartfelt, you know, song…it was just amazing," Parton said. "Whitney is the one who took it worldwide and really made it a household word - or song, I should say - so I'll always be thankful to her for that."

4. Smartbomb, "Breathe"

In the late 90s, early 2000s ska/pop-punk was inescapable. The band Smartbomb released their take on a Faith Hill classic, "Breathe."

5. Janis Joplin, "Me & Bobby McGee"

Janis Joplin's career-defining cover of Kris Kristofferson's "Me & Bobby McGee" is required listening for every list like this.
