If you ask my son what his absolute favorite part of summer is, the answer comes out immediately and without hesitation. The rodeo. There’s just something about the energy of it that pulls him in every single time.

The horses, the cowboys, the speed, the dust flying everywhere. He sits there completely locked in, eyes wide, like he’s watching the coolest movie he’s ever seen, except it’s happening right in front of him.

Why Rodeo Captivates Fans of All Ages

This summer, the 2026 Tioga County Fair is bringing live rodeo action back to Marvin Park in Owego, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting nights of the fair. The rodeo will take place on Thursday, August 13, at 7 p.m., featuring classic rodeo events like bull riding, barrel racing, and roping. Each event brings its own kind of intensity, whether it’s a rider trying to stay on a bucking bull or a competitor racing a horse around barrels at incredible speed.

Even if you’ve never been to a rodeo before, it’s the kind of event that’s easy to get pulled into. The energy in the arena, the skill involved, and the unpredictability of each ride make every moment feel like something you don’t want to miss.

All-Inclusive Admission: Rides, Shows, and More

One of the best parts of the Tioga County Fair is just how much is included with rodeo admission. For one price, visitors get access to unlimited rides, all the midway shows, livestock exhibits, 4-H and FFA shows, and the rodeo itself.

That means a full day of exploring the fairgrounds before settling in for the rodeo later in the evening. From the midway to the barns filled with animals raised by local youth, there’s something happening almost everywhere you turn.

Fair Highlights: Events You Won't Want to Miss

The Tioga County Fair runs August 11 through August 15, bringing back some of the events that people look forward to year after year. Along with the rodeo, the fair will also feature tractor pulls and the always-popular demolition derby, two events that tend to fill the grandstands quickly.

Between those crowd favorites, the rides, the exhibits, and the food stands scattered throughout the grounds, the fair offers plenty of reasons to spend a day wandering around Marvin Park.

Celebrating Local Agriculture and Youth Involvement

Behind the scenes, the fair is organized by the Tioga County Agricultural Society, which promotes agriculture while providing entertainment and educational opportunities for the community. That mission shows up all over the fairgrounds, especially in the 4-H and FFA exhibits, where young people proudly showcase animals and projects they’ve worked on throughout the year.

It’s a reminder that while the fair is packed with rides and big events, it’s also about celebrating local agriculture and the community that supports it.
