So... Money is tight after Christmas and maybe you are beginning to get the tax return itch. When can you file your New York State federal and state taxes? Better question, If you file early, when will you get your tax return checks? Well, good news everyone!

The IRS will begin accepting electronic tax return filings (e-File) on Monday, January 23rd 2017. Final tax returns are due by Tuesday, April 18th; unless a 6-month extension is approved. Now, with that being said, even if you filed early this month, it doesn’t mean that your taxes will get squared away with the IRS until the 23rd:

"An important point to note is that while you can file your taxes anytime after the beginning of the year, the IRS will not process any returns (paper or electronic) until IRS e-File goes live. This includes returns filed via the main tax software providers or directly via the IRS website for lower income filers. The IRS also reiterated that filing your taxes electronically is the most accurate way to file a tax return and the fastest way to get a refund. It is expected that more than 150 million tax returns will be e-filed in 2017."

If the IRS accepts your return and processes your refund. Based on the IRS E-file Refund Cycle Chart, you should expect your state tax refund within 30 days of the 23rd.  If everything goes like clockwork. Get more details by Clicking Here.
