Binghamton University is the recipient of a $60 million gift from an  anonymous donor that will fund a new University baseball stadium complex and training facility at the site of the current facility. It is the single largest gift in the University's history.  It is also the second largest gift ever received among schools in the SUNY system.

The new complex will include an artificial turf playing surface, indoor hitting and throwing facilities, new press coverage area and a large V.I.P. indoor seating area as well. The complex will enable Binghamton's baseball team to workout and train year round.

Construction on the new complex will begin in the next several weeks and is expected to be completed in time for the 2021 season. The complex will equal or surpass any college baseball stadium facility in the nation.  The donor does not want to be identified.  In announcing the plans today University President Dr. Harvey Stenger said "the gift comes from a family that is passionate about baseball and about the Bearcat baseball team and Binghamton University in particular."

The Bearcats baseball team has made its mark in America East and around the country.  Under the guidance of 28-year coach Tim Sinicki Binghamton has had plenty of success.  Sinicki has more than 600 career victories and is a six-time conference coach of the year.  The Bearcats have won 10 America East regular season conference  and tournament championships over the past 13 years.  Eight Bearcats have been drafted by Major League teams over the past seven years.

With construction on the new site getting underway Binghamton will play any home games this season either at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton or at Cornell University.  BU opens the season this weekend (February 14-16) at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  The first home game on Binghamton's 2020 schedule is set for Saturday, March 21 versus UMass Lowell at NYSEG Stadium.
