New York State Police say a Syracuse man is accused of smashing a window of a house in Cortland County but running away empty-handed.

54-year-old Curtis McCormick is charged with felony attempted burglary and misdemeanor criminal mischief for allegedly trying to get into the home on Route 11 in Homer at 10:52 a.m..

Troopers and Cortland County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the home for a report of a burglary.  Investigators say they found there had been an attempt to break into the house. The exterior window was smashed but the intruder never got in.

Several hours later, McCormick was located in the City of Syracuse by State Police and returned to Homer for arraignment.

He was sent to the Cortland County Jail without bail.
