Southern Tier Has no Voice in Impeachment

You might call it “impeachment without representation.”  The Southern Tier and Central New York had no say in the January 13 debate and vote in the House to impeach President Donald Trump for a second time for his urging his supporters to march on the Capitol under false claims the election he lost was rigged.

The chair in the 22^nd Congressional District of New York is empty in the House chambers as the race between incumbent Democrat Anthony Brindisi and Republican former Congresswoman Claudia Tenney may not even be resolved this month.

The state judge reviewing the ballots, challenges and arguments has ordered lawyers for both camps to file their written arguments January 14 with oral arguments scheduled to be heard January 15.  There's no word on how long it might take Judge Scott DelConte to review those arguments and come to a decision.

Only a few dozen votes separate Tenney and Brindisi with Tenney at last count holding on to the razor-thin lead.

Since November 3, paper absentee and affidavit ballots in the eight districts making up the 22^nd district have been counted, challenged, lost, found and challenged.
