A former pizza place in Vestal's Town Square Mall is being transformed into a restaurant that will offer a menu featuring seafood combos.

The new eatery will be called Storming Crab. The restaurant will operate in a building that had been occupied by Uno Pizzeria and Grill for 25 years. That Vestal Parkway fixture closed its doors in April 2018.

Storming Crab restaurants already are operating in Syracuse and Buffalo. The company also has units in six other states.

Manager Rich Lynn said initial plans called for the Vestal restaurant to be open by now. But the COVID-19 pandemic caused some delays. He now expects operations will be able to start around mid-September.

Lynn said hiring hasn't started yet. He expects about 40 people will work at the restaurant in various positions, including servers, hosts and cooks.
