Get Ready for a Ramp Closure on State Route 17 in Broome County
If you're planning on driving State Route 17 westbound in the Town of Sanford in Broome County, buckle up because we've got some news for you.
The New York State Department of Transportation wants to give you a heads-up that starting from tomorrow, Thursday, February 13, there's going to be a ramp closure happening.
What's the deal with this closure, you ask? Well, it's all about a culvert replacement that's taking place on the Exit 83 off ramp from westbound State Route 17 to Broome County Route 28. This closure is expected to stick around until mid-March, but that's only if the weather plays nice.
Now, I know what you're thinking - detours, ugh! But don't worry, the DOT says you can follow the signs and take State Route 17 westbound to Exit 82, State Route 41, and then jump back on State Route 17 eastbound to get back to Exit 83.
Oh, and a little reminder to slow down when you see those work zones. The fines for speeding in a work zone are doubled, and if you rack up two or more speeding violations in a work zone, you might find yourself without a driver's license.

Keep an eye out for our hardworking highway crews and remember to slow down and move over when you see them working. Let's all do our part to keep everyone safe on the road.
