So what's going on with the Ross Park Zoo? Good news is that they are open and would love to see you. Here is more good news: They are proud to announce the birth of an African penguin chick, hatched on June 20 to parents Adasha and Howard. At the Hawk Morning Show, we try to learn something new every day, and here is today's nugget of knowledge. All penguins like it cold, right? WRONG! African penguins are from the southern coast of Africa and they prefer temperatures between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit. See, it is good to learn something new.

The African Penguin is an endangered species with only 52,000 birds left in the wild. It's great that Ross Park Zoo can add one more to the population. The African penguin exhibit at the zoo is currently closed due to safety measures and precautions surrounding COVID-19.

If you are interested in supporting the care of their African penguin chick, you can buy an "adoption" package. Go here to get this limited edition package. You can keep up to date with the latest penguin chick news and upcoming events here.

America's 5th oldest zoo is located at 60 Morgan Road in Binghamton and the admissions booth is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day.
