Restored Homes in Spotlight on Binghamton’s Crandall Street

An open house will be held to showcase a major home renovation project on the West Side of Binghamton.

Ten apartment houses on Crandall Street are being restored as part of a First Ward Action Council initiative.

Council executive director Jerry Willard said work on the project is nearing completion.

Speaking on WNBF Radio's Binghamton Now program, Willard said dozens of people have been working on the neighborhood revitalization effort in recent months.

Willard said the open house will provide an opportunity for residents to see the transformation that's occurring. The event will be held at 18 Crandall Street from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday.

The $11 million project, which includes a nearby home on North Street, will make 37 rental units available.

People interested in applying for the Crandall Street apartments may obtain an application at the First Ward Action Council website.
