How To Watch the Funeral of Prince Philip
Whether you've had a lifelong fascination with the royal family as I have or have just started getting interested in them thanks to The Crown, you might be wondering how you can watch the funeral of Queen Elizabeth's husband, Prince Philip.
The funeral for Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh be held on April 17 at 3:00 p.m. local time but here in the United States, you will be able to see it Saturday, April 17 starting at 9:30 a.m. (EST) on NBC News both on their network and on their streaming service. CNN will air coverage of the funeral starting at 9:00 a.m. (EST).
My fascination with the royal family goes back to my early childhood when I decided that I wanted to be friends with Queen Elizabeth and wrote her a letter. To the shock of me (and my parents!), I received return mail from Binghamton Palace.
My six-year-old self wrote to the Queen,
Hi. I wonder if someday I could be a Queen. What I would like to know first is how to be a Queen. And then I would like to know how to get into a castle. Also, how would I live in a castle? Can friends come play in a castle, and my family? I want to be a Queen because I like to make decisions. I am already six years old and I need to get started. Thank you for reading my letter. Please write me when you have time. If you want me to be your friend I will. I love Jesus, do you?
While I didn't receive a reply from Queen Elizabeth herself, I did get a note hand-signed by one of her Ladies in Waiting along with a bunch of brochures that detail what a day in the life of Queen Elizabeth looked like in 1986. To this day, that letter is among my most special things.
