A man who was reported missing in the Susquehanna River apparently plunged into the water when he fell off a 10-foot high ledge.

Authorities say 47-year-old David Bower of Endicott was on the northern bank of the river early Tuesday morning.

According to Endicott police, Bower is believed to have fallen from the ledge into the river.

A search continued Wednesday with a New York State Police SCUBA team assisting village police by patrolling the river with sonar equipment.

An update provided by investigators indicated police are having difficulty locating appropriate next-of-kin.

Detectives are asking relatives or friends of Bower to contact the police department at 607.785.3341.

Police earlier said a 911 call was received at 1:49 a.m. Tuesday indicating a man was in the river.

Investigators have not said who reported the incident or what Bower was doing near the river before he fell of the ledge.
