When you talk about Syracuse University sports, what comes to mind? Is it there basketball, football or lacrosse program? Maybe it's the Carrier Dome (now called the JMA Wireless Dome). For me, it's their mascot, Otto the Orange.

In the early 80s,I remember it's predecessor, the Dome Ranger as he would run up and down courtside during the Cuse basketball games. Then in 1990, the "orange with appeal", Otto the Orange became the newest mascot.

Fast forward 33 years and Otto is making news again. On August 12th, Otto the Orange became one of the newest members of the Mascot Hall of Fame. Orange fans from all over the globe cast their votes as Otto received the most votes of any Mascot Hall of Fame nominee this year.

Otto The Orange Inducted Into the Mascot Hall of Fame

Otto joined Slugger the Seas Dog from Portland, Maine as a member of the Class of 2023. There are only 29 Mascot Hall of Fame members but what makes it's induction so impressive is that Otto is one of only nine college mascots inducted. Otto is also the first Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) inductee.

There was an official ring ceremony during a fan fest celebration in Indiana. The celebration will continue during the tailgate at upcoming Syracuse Orange football games.

You'll have a chance to get a photo with Otto and it's championship ring. Otto's ring rivals any Super Bowl ring and it looks more like a heavyweight championship belt. Otto has been a bright four-foot ball of fun and has been bringing smiles to Cuse Nation fans for years with many more years to come.
