New York Gamers, You’re Kind of a Big Deal
Gaming isn’t just something kids do in their bedrooms anymore. It’s huge. Like, $90 billion huge. Whether you’re going online for a quick game after work or building a whole career, gaming has officially become a big part of life in the U.S.
New York Lands in the Top 5
According to a new study from GamblingSites.com, New York is the fourth biggest gaming state in the entire country. The study looked at how many pro gamers we’ve got, how many people are streaming, how fast our internet is, and how often people are searching for gaming stuff online. All that added up to an index score, and New York scored 41.24 out of 100.
What Makes a State a “Gaming State”?
They took into account on how many streamers are out there, how many gaming conventions happen, and even how many times people search for gaming topics online. Fast internet helps too, because nothing kills a game faster than buffering in the middle of a match.

New Yorkers Know How to Play
We’ve got four pro gamers officially based in the Empire State, eight streamers doing their thing, and an internet speed that’s around 397 Mbps on average. That’s fast enough to keep up with just about anything. Plus, people are searching gaming content like crazy, with over 18,000 searches every month.
Only California, Texas, and Florida Ranked Higher
California took the number one spot. Texas and Florida came in next, mostly because of their size and the number of conventions they host. We are fourth just ahead of Pennsylvania, Illinois, and New Jersey.
