Northeast Pa. Man Charged with Risking Catastrophe in Arson Fire
A Bradford County man is accused of setting a bag of garbage on fire in his apartment while his girlfriend was sleeping inside.
Pennsylvania State Police say the girlfriend woke up when she heard 42-year-old Michael Wintermute II of Troy reportedly yelling he couldn’t get the fire out. An upstairs neighbor extinguished the flames.
Wintermute told authorities he started the fire shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday, April 10 to cause a commotion to get the police to respond.
Wintermute is charged with Arson, Risking a Catastrophe and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
He was sent to the Bradford County jail on $100,000 bail.
