Nichols Firefighters Fire Up the Grill to Raise Funds for Local Heroes
If there’s one thing this community knows how to do, it’s take care of its own. Next week, the Nichols Fire Department is partnering with Firehouse Concessions’ Hometown Heroes food truck to raise funds for the Wappasening Hose Company and everyone’s invited to stop by, grab a bite, and give back.
From Monday, November 3 through Saturday, November 8, you can swing by 106 River Road in Nichols between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. to enjoy some seriously good food while supporting the people who protect and serve our area every single day.
More Than a Meal: How Firefighters Are Using Food to Give Back
Hometown Heroes isn’t just another food truck. It’s part of Firehouse Concessions, a family run company owned and operated by local firefighters and EMTs. Over the years, their trucks have donated more than $487,000 to fire departments, EMS crews, and first responder agencies across the region, money that helps cover equipment costs, training, and the growing list of expenses that come with keeping our communities safe.

Their mission is simple: cook great food, serve it with heart, and give back to the people who answer the call when we need them most. Every sandwich, slice of pizza, or sweet treat sold puts funds right back into the hands of local first responders.
Each week, one of Firehouse Concessions’ trucks parks at a new host department for an on-site fundraiser. This time, it’s Nichols’ turn. Proceeds from every meal sold will go directly to the Wappasening Hose Company, helping offset costs and keeping their team equipped for emergencies. It’s not just about raising money, though. It’s about community, about taking a few minutes out of your day to connect with the people who keep you safe, share a laugh, and enjoy a meal that truly means something.

How You Can Show Your Support, One Meal at a Time
Supporting the effort couldn’t be easier - just come hungry. Bring your family, invite a friend, and stop by the Nichols Fire Department any day next week for lunch or dinner. Every purchase helps ensure our first responders have the tools and training they need to keep all of us safe. Because sometimes, the best way to say thank you is with a full plate and a full heart.
