I used to take Niagara Falls for granted when I lived in Western New York going to college. It was a short trip to either side of the falls and always a good time once you got there. Niagara Falls is so beautiful and it's something everyone should see in their lifetime.

From Binghamton, the Canadian side of the falls is a little less than 4 hours from Binghamton when you take 81 North to 90 West.

If you have never been and you like the color purple, it may be a good time to see history.  The Niagara Falls Illumination Board (yes, this is a real thing!), announced today that it will illuminate Niagara Falls in the royal color purple on April 21st in recognition of the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.

It will only take place for 15 minutes -- beginning at 10pm in honor of the reigning Monarch who has served Canada, along with the United Kingdom for 53 years.

It's not clear if Queen Elizabeth will be there for this historic honor, but according to the press release,  "Her Majesty’s Official Website goes on to list Canada as the country most visited by The Queen over her reign of over sixty years."
