New York Ranks Third for Women’s Soccer
A new study looked at which states are the best for women’s soccer. New York came in third place, right behind California and North Carolina. The study gave each state a score based on things, like how many women’s soccer teams they have and how many championships those teams have won.
How New York Scored
New York got a final score of 60.58. The state’s success comes from its strong college soccer programs. There are 52 NCAA Division III women’s soccer teams in New York, and they have won eight national championships. That gave New York a perfect score for this part of the study.
Championship Success in New York
The Western New York Flash, also helped boost the state’s score. They won the national championship twice, which was one of the highest scores in the study for that category.

What the Study Looked At
The research checked 13 different things to figure out the rankings. It counted how many National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) teams each state has, how many times teams won championships, and how many college teams and championships were in the state.
Who Else Made the Top Spots
California came first with the highest scores in most areas, like the number of teams and championships. North Carolina was second, thanks to the North Carolina Courage and their many wins. After New York, Oregon and New Jersey rounded out the top five.
Why This Matters for New Yorkers
If you live in New York and love women’s soccer, you’re in a great place. The state has strong teams and a good soccer history. Whether you play, watch, or support women’s soccer, New York ranks among the very best in the country.
