Dreaming of a BIG-TIME career in STEM? A recent study has revealed the top states where working in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields can lead to hefty paychecks, and New York claims the third spot on the list.

The study by CYTENA, looked at Glassdoor data at more than 75 STEM occupations  to find the states offering the most financially rewarding opportunities in the field.

Number One State For STEM Professionals

California has the ultimate jackpot for STEM professionals, with an average salary at $125,000. Key high-paying roles in the Golden State include anesthesiologists bringing in $330,000, cardiologists at $310,000 per year, and orthopedic surgeons at $269,000 annually.

Next in line, Washington lands a close second, showcasing an average STEM salary of $123,954. Anesthesiologists lead the salary race here as well, taking home $314,500 annually, followed by neurologists at $284,500 yearly, and orthopedic surgeons at $275,500 per annum.

How Does New York Stand When It Comes To STEM Professionals

Claiming the third-place throne, New York offers STEM professionals an average yearly salary standing at $114,437. Neurologists, anesthesiologists, and cardiologists claim the top spots on the paycheck podium, with salaries reaching $285,500, $275,000, and $264,000, respectively.

Rounding out the top five, Nevada captures the fourth spot, offering an average annual salary of $111,767, while Maryland secures fifth place with an average income of $110,226 per year.

The STEM salary spectacle continues to unfold, with states like Massachusetts, Idaho, Hawaii, Colorado, and Connecticut carving out their spots in the top ten, showcasing lucrative financial prospects for professionals in these regions.
