This news is disheartening to me and it might come as a shock to you. According to recent research, the number of puppy scams in New York state have more than tripled in 2020 with a total of 2,143 reports. That's a lot of people with big hearts that are being taken of by scam artists!

But it's not just the Empire State that is suffering from this problem. California, Texas, and Florida also have reported some of the highest numbers of scams, with 939, 687, and 649 reports, respectively. It seems like these scammers are everywhere and relentless.

For those who don't know, puppy scams are when dishonest sellers trick people into buying dogs that don't even exist. They take advantage of your love of man's best friend and scam you out of your hard-earned cash. They use fake ads and websites that tug at your heartstrings. It doesn't get much lower than that!

The rise in puppy scams is alarming, but it's not all doom and gloom. By paying attention and being cautious, we can all help prevent ourselves from falling victim to these scams. Always do your research, ask for recommendations, and never buy a puppy without taking the time to see it first.

Let's all work together to put an end to these puppy scams once and for all. After all, we want our four-legged furry friends to be happy and healthy and that starts with finding them a loving home. Remember, if it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.
