New York State Ranks High in Study on DUI Arrests
Is it me but does it seem like there are more alcohol-related car crashes and deaths? Well it might not be our imagination after all and we have the possible proof. According to a new study on DUI arrests by High Rise Legal Funding, New York State is in the top ten on the list.
The study looked at the most recent FBI arrest offense count data and found that New York had a total of 21,583 DUI arrests in just one year. That’s a rate of 470.44 DUI arrests per 100,000 people, which puts New York at the seventh spot on the list.
Alaska took the top spot with a whopping 726,13 DUI arrests for every 100,000 people. California also had a shockingly high number of DUI arrests, with a total of 98,084 in just one year.
While we are glad that the Empire State is not number one in this case, it is still a concern. The more drunk drivers on the road mean more DUI arrests along with an increase in alcohol-related crashes.
The study highlights a growing and worrying problem when it comes to drunk driving across the U.S. It is becoming more obvious that we need to stay safe while on the road and it is vitally important to get a ride if you've had too much to drink.
This doesn't only apply to New Yorkers but to everyone across the country. Be responsible, take care on the roads, and never, ever get behind the wheel if you’ve been drinking.
