New York Sports Legend Passes Away

Floyd Little, the professional football hall of famer and college football hall of famer, passed away on New Year's Day.  Little's son Marc shared this message this past weekend on social media.

The legendary Syracuse Orange and Denver Bronco had a storied career on the gridiron. At Syracuse, Little was a three time All American for the then Orangmen. Little finished his three year careeer (freshman were not allowed to play during his college career) ranked in top ten in the school's rushing yards and touchdown list. Following his collegiate career, Little was the sixth overall pick by the Denver Broncos in the 1967 NFL Draft. Little played nine seasons with Denver including five selections to the Pro Bowl. Both programs retired Little's number forty four following his playing career. Many Central New York media members shared their memories of Floyd Little on social media.    

During my time both in my hometown of Syracuse and here in the Capital Region, I have had the chance to speak with Floyd Little numerous times. I shared this message about the legendary athlete this past New Year's Day.
