If you live in New York, here’s something good to know. A new study says New York is now the 3rd best state in the country for women traveling solo in 2026. The study was done by a global pet-sitting group called TrustedHousesitters. They looked at things like safety, internet speed, public transportation, travel interest, and costs.

What Helped New York Earn Third Place

New York had a score of 73.6 out of 100, putting it just behind Pennsylvania and Iowa. One reason is safety. New York has large cities but they also hve quieter suburbs and rural areas that travelers enjoy.

More Women Are Choosing Solo Trips

The number of women traveling solo in New York has grown by almost 5 percent in the last two years. New York offers a wide range of things for the ladies to do. There are museums, parks, lakes, restaurants, shopping, concerts, and outdoor adventures.

Strong Internet Makes Travel Easier

Another positive is internet speed. New York has an average download speed of about 397 Mbps, which is considered fast. This matters for travelers who work remotely, stay in touch with family, or just want reliable service for maps or streaming.

Getting Around Is Fairly Simple

Transportation also helped New York rank high. Taxi costs about $2 per mile, and public transportation is available in many areas. Whether someone is exploring New York City, or visiting smaller towns, getting around is manageable.
